Epee de cour et de ville à monture en argent et à pas d'ane, époque Louis XVI - Poinçons de date de PARIS -1783 - XVIII°
Monture à pommeau ciselée de deux bouquets floraux et striée de chevrons avec bouton de riveture. Arc de jointure entièrement ciselé avec médaillon central floral. Fusée poinçonnée de la lettre de date de PARIS , " U couronné " et des " 2 L entrelaces du Fermier Général Henri Clavel ( 1783-1789 )" , à décor ciselé à pointe de diamant, de chevrons et de médaillons ornés de fleurs. Quillon se terminant en rosace et à pas d'ane. Plateau ovalaire à décor ciselé, sur la face intérieure de médaillons floraux et d'une bordure à pointe de diamant. Sur la face extérieur du plateau coté de la lame décorée de chevrons et liseret en bordure à pointe de diamant. Lame triangulaire à arête médiane, dorée et bleuie au premier tiers avec devise d'une déclaration de profession de Foi dans le gand pan creux dissimulé sous les attributs floraux : " VIVE LE ROY".( voir photo )

Les épées en argent étaient attribuées à des corps d'élite ou étaient fourbies pour des personnalités militaires ou civiles de haut rang. L'étiquette Royale imposant le port de l'épée aux nobles et à tous ceux qui ont servi sous les drapeaux, depuis l'arrêt du conseil de guerre du 17 novembre 1716.

Court and city sword with silver frame and no-ring, Louis XVI period - Date stamps from PARIS -1783 - XVIII°
Frame with chiseled pommel of two bouquets florals and striated chevrons with rivet button. Fully chiseled jointing arch with floral central medallion. Rocket marked with the date letter of PARIS, "U crowned " and " 2 L interlacing of the Fermier Général Henri Clavel ( 1783-1789 ), with diamond-pointed chiseled decoration, chevrons and medallions decorated with flowers. Quillon ending in a rose window and not a jack. Oval plate with chiseled decoration, on the inner side of floral medallions and a diamond-pointed border. On the outside of the plate side of the blade decorated with chevrons and edging edge diamond point. Triangular blade with middle edge, golden and bluish at first third with motto of a profession of faith in the hollow pan hidden under the floral attributes: "VIVE LE ROY".( see photo )

Silver swords were attributed to elite corps or were sneaky for high-ranking military or civilian personalities. The royal etiquette imposing the carrying of the sword to the nobles and to all those who have served in the service, since the decision of the war council of 17 November 1716.
